Commodore Jobair Ahmad, ndc (RTD), BN was born in a respectable family in Chattogram in the year 1961. His father late Kaikobad Ahmad
served as a Senior Executive in a multinational company. His grandfather late advocate Sultan Ahmad was an ex MLA in the then general assembly of Pakistan.
His paternal grandfather late Abdul Majid, whose younger brother was Abdul Karim Shahitya Bisharad who contributed in the Bengali literature.
Commodore Jobair joined the Bangladesh Naval Academy as an Officer cadet on 01 November 1979. He then commissioned in the Engineering
branch of Bangladesh Navy on 05 May 1982.
Commodore Jobair attended various courses home and abroad. He obtained BSC in Mechanical Engineering from the Marshal Tito Military Academy
of the then Yugoslavia. He did Masters and MPhil in military studies from National Defense College, Bangladesh. He attended system Engineering Management course in the UK,
Military peace keeping operations in accordance with rule of law course in the USA, Ordinance Engineering officers course in Pakistan, Officers Military police course in Bangladesh,
Intelligence and surveillance course in Bangladesh, Ammunition Technical Officers’ course at Rajendrapur, Bangladesh and National Defense course in Bangladesh.
During his long and flourishing carrier in Bangladesh Navy, Commodore Jobair fruitfully served various ships and establishments. He served as the chief Engineer
in various naval ships and Frigates, Executive Officer in BN establishments and Naval Provost Marshal in Chattogram Naval Area. He held the command positions which include Area
commander Dhaka, Commanding officer in different naval establishments. Besides he served as the Director of Naval intelligence at the Naval Headquarters, Member engineer at the
Chattogram port authority, Director General of shipping under the shipping ministry. He also served at the Bangladesh parliament secretariat as the sergeant-at-arms. He served
as a dean of various faculties and Pro-Vice Chancellor in Bangladesh University of Professionals.
During his early career he served as the deputy and additional director of the special security force (SSF). It is mentionable that he got commendation on highest
bravery from the chief of Naval staff (CNS), commendation from the speaker of National parliament for commendable job in the SAARC speaker’s conference in Bangladesh and commendation
from the UN force commander in Sierra Leone for commendable co-ordination with rebel and militants group. In the United Nations peace keeping missions he served as Force Liaison officer.
He also received commendation for the preservation and creation of archive of the history of participation of Chattogram port Authority of the freedom fight of Bangladesh from the
authority. He received appreciation for the highest collection of illegal arms during the operation clean heart from the task force.
Presently Commodore Jobair is engaged in providing consultancy in different agencies and delivers lectures in different institutions. Commodore Jobair is happily
married to Begum Nusrat Ahmad blessed with one daughter and two sons. He has five brothers and one sister. All of them are highly educated and serving in different sectors.
